.Recco fireworks

Every year, on 7 and 8 September,  Recco fireworks festival is  held in honour of Our Lady of Suffragio, the patron saint and protector of Recco.  The sagra is organised by the seven neighbourhood of Recco; Bastia, Collodari, Liceto, Ponte, San Martino, Spiaggia e Verzemma who challenge each other in two days of pyrotechnic shows

This is believed to be the biggest fireworks festival in north of Italy. Those days the  sleepy town of Recco is transformed into festive grounds filled with stands selling everything from sweeties to trinkets. Gastronomical stands offer foccacette (fried pastry filled with strachino, a type of cheese), trofie with  pesto, foccacia al formaggio (tipical focaccia with cheese of Recco)
